COMM 497/597: Social Media and Campaigns

In this course we’ll be working on exploring what social media mean for campaigns. We will first investigate what’s new about the new media. We’ll read content from both academic researchers and real-world professionals to think critically about new and social media. Then we will look at the role of social media and campaigns in different contexts: advertising, public relations, non-profit organizations, health campaigns, and campaigns for social change. Whatever field you are in, this class will help you to understand the strategies needed to write effective social media messages in several forums such as Twitter, Facebook, Linked-In, Youtube and others.
