I have good news this summer in the Academic software area. We have obtained a campus-wide license to Wolfram Research‘s Mathematica product. In case you are not familiar with this powerful tool, Mathematica is useful in any workflow that involves computing results, from chemical computations to teaching calculus to building a trading website. Take a bit of time to tour the website and get a feel for what the software is capable of doing.

To install the software from on campus, copy and paste the following into your browser location bar:
Windows:
\\acit-classes.ad.maryville.edu\apps2\Mathematica\Windows\Installation\Mathematica_9.0.0_WIN.exe

MAC:
using Safari, copy and paste this into the location bar:

\\acit-classes\Apps2\Mathematica\Macintosh\Mathematica_9.0.0_OSX.dmg
You will need to enter your email username and password to download the software

Make sure you know where you are saving the file. Once you have the software, you will need to activate it by opening the software and choosing to activate with the server location (instead of using the Activatation Key method). Use this information: NT6S26-MARYVM.AD.MARYVILLE.EDU and the software should open.
