You should expect to receive your housing assignments for the 2010-2011 academic year throughout this week. Assignments will be send to your Maryville e-mail address.

Residential Life would like to welcome a new addition to our staff. Mike Neiduski has recently joined us as our new Residential Life Coordinator. His office is located in Mouton Hall (across from the classroom). Please make sure you take some time to stop by and say hello!
If you registered for a room lottery number, be sure to attend Open Room Selection tonight from 6:00-8:00pm in the Center for Student Engagement. Before you can sign up for housing, you need to have submitted a housing application. Additionally, if you are moving from the residence halls to the apartments, you need to bring an extra $150 for your housing deposit.
General Description of Position
The Summer Housing Assistant will live on campus and serve as a support person for residential students as well as assist with our conference guests. The Summer Housing Assistant will perform weekly duty responsibilities, serve in an on-call duty rotation, and complete all administrative tasks associated with Maryville’s summer programs.
Qualifications
Candidates who have previous Residential Life staff experience or who have been hired as staff members for the fall are preferred. Candidates must possess good judgment, strength of character, self-confidence, a strong sense of responsibility and sensitivity, and an understanding of many different types of individuals. Successful candidates will be in good academic, financial, and disciplinary standing with Maryville University prior to and throughout the period of employment. Candidates must be enrolled in summer courses or registered for fall course work as a full-time student. Candidates must have a cumulative and semester grade point of 2.5 (minimum) before and during the summer appointment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as a first responder for the Department of Residential Life
- Serve in an “on-call” duty rotation with other Summer Housing Assistants for summer residents and conference guests
- Assist (as needed) in the check-in & check-out process for summer students and conference guests
- Enforce University policies and procedures
- Respond to emergency situations and insure that residents/guests are knowledgeable about emergency procedures
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and any additional staff developmental opportunities
- Complete rounds in all occupied living areas as needed
- Have a flexible schedule
- Serve as a resource for conference guests
- Respect and maintain the confidentiality of staff and students
- Maintain a positive role model behavior on and off campus
- Work on departmental projects as determined by the Director and Assistant Director of Residential Life
- Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner

- Room Waiver for space in an apartment
Dates of Employment
Interested candidates must submit an updated resume and cover letter to the Director of Residential Life (kwatson@maryville.edu) no later than noon on March 26. Interviews will be held in the Residential Life Office March 29 – April 1.
If you are interested in living on campus this summer, please complete a summer housing application. Applications can be found at http://blogs.maryville.edu/residentiallife/summer-housing-application-2010/ and are due no later than 4:00pm on April 1. Assignments will be e-mailed to students during the week of April 5.
Summer Housing Information
- If you currently live on campus, you will not need to pay an additional deposit. Any apartment damage will be deducted from your original deposit.
- Students will remain in their current residential spaces until their assigned apartment has been cleaned and will be contacted to move earlier if the space becomes available. Once contacted, students will be given 4 days to complete the move from the residence hall to the apartment. These moves will occur from May 13 – May 16.
- If a student is living on campus for the entire summer and has a fall assignment, they will move out of summer housing and into their fall assignment from July 29 – August 1.
- If you do not have roommate requests for the summer or your roommate requests do not fill up the apartment, Residential Life will assign students to fill any vacancies.
- For students who are planning to stay for only part of the summer, you will be able to move in on the Saturday prior to the first class day (between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm).
- Check-out for partial summer housing residents will occur between 10:00am and 4:00pm on the Friday of the last contracted week.
- All summer housing will be located in the Maple Apartments.
- There is no meal plan option for the summer. Please check with Fresh Ideas for your meal options.
Summer Housing Prices
- Two-Bedroom: $2,872 = all summer; $243 weekly
- Four-Bedroom: $2,505 = all summer; $212 weekly
If you still have questions regarding housing for next year, please plan to attend one of the two additional housing informational sessions on Monday, March 22 at 6:00pm or Tuesday, March 23 at 5:00pm. Both sessions will be held in the Duchesne Lobby.
It is recommended that every resident registers for a lottery number even if you are planning to squat in your current space. These numbers will be based on credit hours and semesters lived on campus. Please refer to the Room Selection Brochure (www.maryville.edu/reslife) for more details.
Room Lottery Registration begins Friday, March 12 at 8:00am and goes through Thursday, March 18 at 5:00pm. To request a room lottery number, please visit http://intranet.maryville.edu/residentialLife/roomLottery.
Please note that the date/time registered for the lottery number does not guarantee a certain number. The lottery numbers are assigned randomly and will be distributed on March 19.

Are you planning to live on-campus next year? If so, please make sure that you submit a housing application [required for both new and returning students]. Campus housing is limited and assigned on a first come, first serve basis, so it is important to submit your information as soon as possible. Fall room assignment letters are sent to students in June.
