Quote of the Week

What is UGAB? The Undergraduate Announcement Board is the new weekly newsletter for the undergraduate Communication program at Maryville University. Day students, Weekend/Evening students, Majors, Minors, etc. are all welcome to receive this newsletter. You are receiving this because you are a current or recent Communication major or minor at Maryville University. I’ll include program highlights, internship opportunities, scheduling information, faculty highlights, class project successes, etc. in future newsletters to help keep you informed about all that is happening in the program. We are creating this list organically, so if we’ve left anyone off, please forward them this notice or ask them to send me a note so I can add them. Likewise, if you’d like to be removed, send me a note with UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line and you’ll be taken off of the list.

Faculty Notes: Barb DeSanto’s co-edited volume with Danny Moss (University of Chester, U.K.) has been released by Sage Publications. The title is Public Relations: A Managerial Perspective and it can be purchased from Sage or Amazon. Here is more information from Barb about the book: “The book is the culmination of ten years of public relations management research that Danny and I conducted in the UK and US.  We began with publishing three articles and making several international conference presentations, Danny wrote his dissertation on the new C-MACIE managerial framework that underpins our managerial perspective, and we concluded by asking accomplished professionals in the UK and the US to write about their managerial practice in different areas of practice.” The formal promotional blurb from Sage is as follows: “Taking a managerial perspective, this book explores public relations and its role in the wider organizational world.  Contributors explore a variety of contexts in which the relevance of understanding these two interlinking domains is so paramount, such as corporate branding and reputation, government relations and community communications, as well as drawing on expertise of legal considerations and ethical awareness. Public Relations: A Managerial Perspective offers an original and vital discussion of the challenges of communication management within any organization. The book is written for third and fourth year undergraduates and postgraduate students.” Congratulations, Dr. Barb!
