Murar, ’11 works for the Cardinals, then the Blues
At this time of year, most sports fans are scrambling for tickets to watch early baseball games or hockey playoffs. John Murar, ’11, is busy helping all those spectators enjoy the games. Murar, 24, of St. Louis has just taken a job with the St. Louis Blues as the corporate sponsorship service coordinator. Before that, he worked for the St. Louis Cardinals, as a service representative working on direct ticket sales. He was with the Cardinals when the team won the World Series. As a result, he is among a handful of Maryville students and alumni who had been working for the Cardinals and will receive a World Series ring. “It was just one of those unbelievable moments in life,” he says. “You never think you’d get a World Series ring if you don’t play for the team.” more >>  |

Maryville Athletics to host 24th Annual Golf Classic on July 16April 2012
The 18-hole, four-person team scramble has traditionally been a great business networking event, and also a way for alumni to meet or reconnect. Maryville University’s Director of Athletics Marcus Manning says, “The Golf Classic provides a unique opportunity for the Maryville community, supporters and fans of Saints Athletics to enjoy a great day of golf and socializing, while assisting Maryville University in shaping the future of its student-athletes.” Participants can sign up as a team or as an individual player, for $250 per player. Participants don’t have to be golfers to enjoy the day. Guests may attend just the lunch for $20 per person or the lunch and cocktail party after the golfing for $50. There are several opportunities to serve as a sponsor, to donate a silent auction item or to volunteer. Proceeds benefit Maryville’s NCAA Division II athletics program.
