University Week of Welcome (U.W.O.W.)

Hey Saints!

The Offices of Multicultural Programs and Campus Ministry and Community Service have added an additional event to the UWOW Schedule for 2010!

On Sunday, August 29th – a select amount of students can join Danielle Carter and Steve DiSalvo, Directors of Multicultural Programs and Campus Ministry and Community Service, respectively, for an exciting day at one of St. Louis’ most-renowned traditions – The Festival Of Nations!

This festival takes place in Tower Grove Park and attendees are given the opportunity to experience music, cuisine, fashion, art, and more!

Space is limited, so contact Danielle or Steve early to sign up.  Each student in attendance will receive $10.00 to use throughout the festival on exciting, new cuisine and culture!

I am excited to announce a new edition to the Maryville Technology Family for 2010!

CHECK OUT THE MINGLESTICK!

The best way to describe the MingleStick is as a “jump drive” that helps you trade electronic “business cards” with your new friends and connections on campus!

When you plug in your MingleStick, the computer will prompt you to create a profile – kind of like Facebook.  You have the option to be as detailed or vague as you’d like to be.  So if you want people to see your name, E-mail, and picture – that’s all they can see.  Otherwise, you can include a magnitude of data! 

I made sure to link my Facebook and Twitter pages to my MingleStick.  This way, when I mingle with new students and people interested in being a part of my organizations, they are given a direct link to “friend” me on Facebook or “follow” me on Twitter – just to save that hassle of searching through endless profiles…

And it’s so easy!  If you want to mingle, just push have your co-mingler push the toggle button until both of your MingleSticks turn green – and you’ve successfully Mingled and traded information!  At the end of the day, just plug the MingleStick into the computer, log in, and download all your new contacts into one local database!

You will see MingleSticks throughout all of UWOW – and every UWOW Team Member will be trained on successfully managing and using the MingleSticks! 

Plus, it will REALLY help get you some great information at the Involvement Fair – so get your profile up and running and start Mingling today!

Hey Maryville!

The UWOW Committee is really excited to announce some info for our Saturday event!   WE’RE GOING TO SIX FLAGS!!!  And students, you can buy tickets for just $10!!! 

The UWOW Committee will be selling tickets at our events all week long – so stop by our table and pick ‘em up!  We are also providing transportation to and from the park – all included in your $10 ticket!

Students that have season passes can also sign up to go!  We’ll save extra spaces in the vans for you! 

Any students that purchase the $10 tickets WILL be required to use the Maryville transportation both to and from the park, but we’ll make sure that the ride is definitely a fun one!
