Should you discover that you will complete your program of study earlier than the program end date shown on your form I-20, you should request a new form I-20 as soon as your academic advisor can confirm the new end date. The new end date will affect your ability to apply for post-completion OPT. Failure to shorten your program, however, will not extend your 60-day grace period.
- Discuss the reason for your early completion with your academic advisor.
- Ask your advisor to sign the shorten program form to confirm your new end date.
- Submit the form to International Student Success.
- ISS will create the new form I-20 and let you know when it is ready for pick-up (normally, within 5 business days.)
