Nina Caldwell, EdD, vice president of student life and dean of students, served as a presenter for the National InRoads Summer Learning Summit last month at Saint Louis University. Caldwell presented on “Values in Leadership” at the conference, which works to develop and place minority youth in business and industry opportunities and prepare them for corporate and community leadership.
Felix Kwan, PhD, associate professor of economics and finance, presented a session titled, “An Innovative Course-Assessment Tool: Letters to Incoming Students,” on July 2, as part of the annual conference of Western Economic Association International in Portland, Oregon.
Nursing Faculty Present at Conference
Three current Maryville nursing faculty members, Linda Berry, MSN, RN, ACNS-BC, clinical assistant professor of nursing, Alice Jensen, MSN, RN, coordinator, BSN-completion program, and LaDonna Whitten, PhD, assistant professor of nursing, joined former nursing faculty member, Mary Curtis at the 10th Annual Nurse Educator Institute in Branson, Mo., last spring. The four presented posters related to SOTL projects each had completed.
Whitten, Curtis and Jensen also attended the Association of Community Health Educators conference in Arlington, Va., last month. Whitten presented a poster on her work with “HIV prevention strategies in African American males.” Curtis and Jensen presented on “The use of confluent educational strategies in community health nursing education.”
