New Date for Rove, Dean Debate
Maryville’s St. Louis Speakers Series features a debated between Karl Rove and Howard Dean. The date for that event has been changed to Thursday, April 21, 2011 – just two days after the originally scheduled date.

New Coalition Formed
Maryville University recently joined the National Partnership to End Interpersonal Violence and launched the Maryville Coalition to End Interpersonal Violence.

“Over the years, many Maryville faculty, staff and students have been working alone, together and with community partners toward ending interpersonal violence,” said Carrie Ellis-Kalton, PhD, director of social sciences and assistant professor psychology. “The Coalition seeks to recognize and formalize these efforts and by doing so connect, support, collaborate and hopefully yield greater change.”

Coalition partners include faculty, staff and students, M*PWR (Maryville Promoting Women’s Rights), Safe Connections, Kathy J. Weiman Shelter, YWCA Sexual Assault Response Team, Lydia’s House, The Women’s Safe House, St. Louis Women’s Chorale, RAVEN, Center for Women in Transition, ALIVE and the St. Louis Family Justice Center.

Young Alumni Night at the Ballpark
It was a sellout event for Maryville’s second annual Young Alumni Night at the Ballpark on Friday, Aug. 20, at Busch Stadium, featuring a match-up between the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Francisco Giants.

Craft Fair to Benefit Vogl Scholarship
The John E. Simon School of Business will host a benefit craft fair on campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 11-12, in the Monsanto Room of the University Library and the adjacent parking lot. Booth rental and concession sales will benefit the Max Vogl Jr. Endowed Memorial Scholarship. Vogl was a business student who died in his junior year at Maryville.

The craft fair,  one of several fundraising events for the scholarship, will feature a wide variety of merchandise, including jewelry, fabric art, glass floral designs, vintage accessories and henna tattoos.


A-B President Speaks at Maryville

David Peacock, president of Anheuser-Busch Companies, recently spoke on campus as part of the KMOX/Business Owners Speaker Series, hosted and co-sponsored by Maryville University, along with Charter Business.
