Maryville University Faculty Promotions Announced
During its regularly scheduled meeting on Feb, 11, the Maryville University Board of Trustees approved the following recommendations for faculty promotion and tenure:

Professional Distinction
Two members of the Simon School of Business faculty have achieved professional distinction in the field of human resources. Maria Payne, PhD, GPHR, assistant professor of business administration and management, has earned the Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) credential and Barb Crockett, longtime adjunct instructor in human resources, has earned certification as a Professional in Human Resource (PHR).

Jesse Kavadlo, PhD

Jesse Kavadlo, PhD, professor of English, has published an article, Preventing Plagiarism, Promoting Honor; Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Online Discussions, in CTL: Currents in Teaching and Learning, and a book review, Mitchum Huehls, Qualified Hope: A Postmodern Politics of Time.  Modern Fiction Studies. Vol. 56, no. 2 (Summer 2010): 460-463. He also has a book chapter forthcoming in April/May: “We Have to Go Back: Lost after 9/11,” Looking for Lost: Critical Essays on the Enigmatic Series (MacFarlane, 2011).

Charles Gulas, PhD, dean of the School of Health Professions, was recently presented with the Volunteers in Action Community Service Award during a recent American Physical Therapy Association combined section meetings, where he presented on the topic, “Student Forum: Supporting Optimal Aging: Physical Therapy Across the Health Care Continuum for the Section on Geriatrics.”
