The Maryville men’s basketball team is having the best start in program history, and that record continued on Dec. 8, when Armon Provo scored a game-high 20 points with a 66-54 victory over visiting Robert Morris-Springfield. The win is the fifth straight for the Saints, the longest since Maryville also won five consecutive games from Feb. 15- 25, 2006. Melvin Turner sank a 3-pointer on the first possession of the game, and the Saints never gave up their lead.
The team also had a thrilling victory on Dec. 5, when Asa Toney scored a career-high 30 points in a 72-65 overtime game at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The win was the first for the Saints over the Tritons in 14 attempts.
The Saints, who took a break for final exams, next play at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, when Lindenwood comes to Moloney Arena.
